UPSCALING BETTER?

I rented 300 out on DVD about aweek back and loved the movie, my PS3 upscaled it and it looked fantastic, so i decided to buy it on BD...
Totally disapointed, the whole screen looked... only way i could describe it... like sand, the upscaled DVD version looked so much better.
From what i can gather its been encoded with the VC-1 codec, apparently created by Microsoft, what aload of s**t, why arent they using H264 or even X264.
25 quid wasted on a BD movie, that i would rather watch from an upscaled DVD.
Is their anyone you could contact about this? Tried BD offical site but no contacts there...

I you read reviews for the hi-def version's of this movie you will find that the sandy or grainy effect was the way the director intended it to be. Same as theater. Your upscaled version didn't show it as much because the lower resolution didn't pronounce this as much. A lot of people were bothered by this as you were but it has nothing to do with the encode.

Thanks for the reply mate, i did think that this effect was induced purposefully, but wasnt sure.

Sudds, edit your sig to conform to forum specs ASAP. you have 6 lines of text not includeing the space line near bottom of text.
4. If you want to use both text and image in your signature the image should not be more than 500 pixels wide and 100 pixels tall, and you can use up to three lines of text.

The first 30-45 min's are good, after that get's kinda meh.
Just rent it, I really don't think it's worth owning.
But thats just my opinion, everybody's taste is diffrent.
And before anyone say's it, I did'nt say it was a bad film.

I don't think it was a crappy film, It's just not one of those films you'll ever watch more than 2 or 3 times, So I don't se any point in blowing 20-30 bucks for it.
But the action was pretty kick ass though.
But god if I had to see buddy scream "this is sparta" one one time with those big giant teeth, I was gonna scream.
If I can't sense time, How can I heal?
Why am I in this precorpse state?
