what is better Blu-ray, HD DVD. i Know blu-ray is alot more money.
so basicaly im asking what has better over all every thing.
and what is going to come out top.( what i mean coming out top every one starts buying that dvd player and video rental places start carring that type.

So if you can answer those questions thank you.

what is better Blu-ray, HD DVD? im gessing u meant blu-ray

You know there is very little difference between the two. I'll lay out foe you what I feel are the two major upsides and downsides.

Blu-Ray:
Pro: More Capacity (holds more video or data)
Con: Shallow recording layer (easier to scratch the metallic recording layer.)

HD-DVD:
Pro: Deeper recording layer (harder to scratch into the data layer)
Con: Less capacity (can't store as much video or data)

I'd take HD-DVD. Even DVDs that are well taken care of get scratched from time to time. If a Blu-Ray gets scratched just deep enough it will reach the recording layer so I would sacrifice having less storage in an HD-DVD for a disc that can take a bit of a deeper scratch. Plus I've been hearing horror stories about Blu-Ray disc rot.

I'm glad you asked that because I didn't know that either. I think HD-DVD is for me because I need durability.

ok thx. So in your opinion what do you think video rental places will pick up.
I mean what dic will they start to rent out of the two dvd disc.(blue-ray or hd dvd)

Blockbuster supports Blu-Ray in all of it's brick and mortar stores while HD-DVD is only supported in 250 locations. Blockbuster online supports both formats. It's too early to tell which format will win, and until all movie studios join one format you will probably find both formats in rental outlets.

Well I'm not sure whats going on there, but this is the article that I read a little while back. I believe I also saw the news here at AD. You might have one of the very few locations that isn't participating.
