flashed dvd drive, can i update with halo3?

A few days ago i finally flashed my hitachi dvd drive, woot!! I've got about 15 backups and all working. i went rent halo3 today and as soon as i put it in, it says i have to update the console before I canplay halo. Am i going to be ok if i update it?
