I am pretty pissed of that Pro Evo 2008 is only coming out in the UK as of now and I am wondering if my US PS3 will be able to play the UK Pro Evo 2008.
You should look through the forums more. This question has been asked over and over again. The PS3 in not region locked. It should work just fine, UNLESS they purposely region locked their game. Look it up.
The ps3 isn't region locked, But PAL woun't play on NTSC PS3.
Basically if you're hooking it up to a regular TV you woun't play it.
My EU Folklore copy doesn't start on my US PS3. In a way its a display issue. Ultimately you can play it on your monitor with an HDMI cable and a converter, but I just wanted to come home, insert my game and have fun :(. Now I have to go through the headache of finding converters in eastern Europe.
I read that some folks did a workaround with US ps3 disks.
Here's a Copy-Paste:
To play UK PAL games which are locked use the method below, you will need the game F1: Championship edition.
1. Goto multiplayer menu
2. Select Exit to main menu
3. At the confirmation popup to exit main menu, swap your disc with the locked game.
4. Confirm the popup to exit to main menu
5. Your locked PAL game will work, enjoy
Also works using Resistance
1. Play Campaign
2. Press Start in game (for Pause menu)
3. At the Pause Menu, eject resistance disc
4. Insert the effected Blue Ray disc
5. Select Save and Quit from the menu
6. The game will boot

I tried that trick with my US Resistance copy, but when I insert Folklore the ps just crashes and i have to restart it. I hope it works for you guyz. I have a copy of Sigma and Virtua Fighter so I'll do some experimenting and post if I get somewhere.
EDIT : An RBG scart cable doesn't fix the problem, the PS still tags it as NTFS.

Pal will play on ntsc PS3s it just wont play proper on normal crt ntsc tvs
Bought an HD Ready DVI Monitor(LG 1982U) for 400 bucks today and everything works.
Folklore doesn't support full HG, but the XMB runs it.
The only problem is that the image is kinda stretched (16:9 probably), but
I'm too busy sucking Folk souls out to look for a soultion to that :) ATM.
Just switch your Display to HD and your Sound to Scart and plug in your US cable one end in your PS and the Red and White chinch to your amp. You can get a chinch to headphone jack connector at your local hardware store for a buck or so and plug it in your PC speakers if you want :)
If anyone succeeded in rescaling images from a DVI monitor in HD please drop me a line.

Nope, you are wrong. Had been trying to run it on my crt TV be4 I bought my DVI monitor. Since CRT is not HD it uses either PAL, or NTSC resolutions.
My TV supports all, but my ps doesn't support the non-HD resolution Folklore supports.
Basically they have both features in the hong kong and EU versions, but JP and US only support NTSC. Maybe some games support all, but this one doesnt.
PS: I got the F1 info off some russian thread I think, but I cant find it right now. It was 1 post and 1 reply, all copy-pasted.
Crt tvs use Pal,Seecam or ntsc. Some crts can play both.
America ntsc,UK=pal,France=seecam.
Its HD tvs that can support all,as well as pc crt monitors and tft monitors.
When i had my pal ps2 and played ntsc games on it on a pal crt tv they were in black and white.
Ive played ntsc ps3 games on my pal ps3 and ive had no problems at all.
