Here's the situation: I have used this forum before, I have RIPIT4ME, DVDShRINK and FIXVTS, I am trying to go through all the other threads to get it all linked together to work, but I can't seem to get it to burn to a disk. I can get it ripped and fixed but when I open DVD SHrink to do the final burn I keep getting this message
DVD SHrink encountered an error an cannot continue
Failed to create folder
Incorrect function
I have the: Select backuop target on : Hard Disk Folder
And the output setr to D:\
I have a Toshiba laptop
Any help would be great!

Are you trying to autoburn with shrink or manually burn the folder created by shrink?
i think your problem is you have it set to make a folder and not autoburn and you are selecting the drive (D which is probably where you burner is located at) i hope that wasn't confusing :)
so if you want to manually burn then select the output to your MAIN drive (C), then burn the folder thats created.
OR
if you burn with dvd decrypter or nero you have to select that where it says backup target(see pic)

First off, let me suggest DVDFab HD Decrypter for bypassing the copy protection. During the short period since RipIt4Me lost support, there have been at least a couple of releases it can't do. Which leads to the question, what video are you trying to back up?
With RipIt4Me 1.7.1.0 there is no longer a need for the standalone verion of FixVTS. It's build into the RipIt4Me program, so no need to set a path for it. The last versions of DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter were supposed to be installed before installing RipIt4Me (3.2.0.15 and 3.5.4.0). That done all you needed to do is open RI4M in 1 click mode and let it run everything and open in Shrink. Select the output target in Shrink and go.
I'm curious about the laptop configuration. Normally a HDD is labeled C: and an optical drive D:. If so, you told Shrink to create a Hard Disk Folder (write to the hard drive, C:). Then you tried to set the output file to the optical drive. No wonder the program got confused. If you want a folder on the HD and burn with an optical drive, use Create ISO and burn with ... as your backup target and it should automatically set the output to the HD and burn with the supported burner, usually DVD Decrypter if ImgBurn hasn't replaced it. Selecting Burn with Nero and your burner drive, you'll have the temp file location below, which is also on the HD. I suspect if you don't have a partitioned drive on your laptop, you need to get your file paths straightened out.

I'm not aware of the all in one installer still being available. All you need are the last versions of DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter. Have those loaded before RipIt4Me 1.7.1.0 (which you can pick up at Softpedia.com). FixVTS is already built into the software and the installation automatically sets the path to Shrink and Decrypter, as long as they were installed to the default locations. Then it's use the 1 click mode and let the software do the job. Once the files open in Shrink, the RipIt4Me job is done. The rest of the process is DVD Shrink and the burner you choose to use.

I still can't understand why we struggle with a program that has been blacklisted and will never be updated again when there is DVDFab HD Decrypter available for free and will do the same thing..."rip your movie"

I don't frequent this site too often, which is why I didn't even know of the blacklisted programs, or that there was a new one available. I have also been in Iraq for 6 months, so this is really new to me. I'll try and look up the DVD Fab.

the DVDFab of old is no more but that's only because it's been superceded by DVDFab HD decrypter, awesome, (still) free, and endlessly updated - see here - http://www.dvdfab.com/free.htm

I realize all the input can be confusing. However, will you answer just one question for me. What does D:\ represent on your system?

You shouldn't need a guide as DVDFab is easier than pie. However you can find various guides in Berryone's signature further up the page

As I pointed out before (as did 300Bowler), DVD Shrink doesn't work that way. You can't set the program to output to Hard Disk Folder and then give an optical drive as the location. Instead of D:\ (your optical drive) the Select target folder for DVD output files: should read something like C:\Movie Folder with the output files going to the hard drive, C:\. That's why Shrink informed you it was an incorrect function and couldn't create the folder. Set the paths properly and you'll find at least that part of the program will work properly. With files output to the hard drive, burning would have to be done manually.
If you've been gone 6 months, you may be behind on your RipIt4Me versions. The last version, with FixVTS incorporated, is 1.7.1.0 which can be downloaded from Softpedia.com. Just remember to have Shrink and DVD Decrypter installed before installing the RipIt4Me. The standalone FixVTS is no longer required (now written into the program). Then it's 1-click mode and let the files open in Shrink. Remember, once the files open in DVD Shrink, RipIt4Me is done. From there on out it's strictly Shrink and burning. So, you have to have the paths set correctly in Shrink. Don't use the jump to Shrink function if you think the files may need some FixVTS processing. When in doubt, use the processing. Though no longer supported, there are only about 2 or 3 obscure releases RipIt4Me can't handle. Slysoft has problems with the same and it's still supported. Currently the free DVD HD Decrypter is probably the best, but it's not quite as easy if a set of files need a bit of compliance processing. Plus what's easier if you're a Shrink user than having the files opened for you?
