This is an original Movie DVD correct. I would try turning off your PS2 at the back for 5 minutes, then try again.
Do you have problems playing games or anything? Try another DVD video and see what happens too.

So what you are saying is not any DVD movies play in your PS2.
Are you saying you have a modchip but don't know what chip it is.
Most I thought autodetect, and others I have no idea if you have to press say Square or Circle to initiate the DVD. Try takig out your memory cards and see if it works then. Don't know if it will make a difference or not, but worth a try.
In my V14 PS2 I can just stick a DVD movie in and it comes up right away.

Ok you say you don't know about the modchip or do you mean you don't know if you have one.
Do you play backup games? if yes do they work fine.
Did you try pressing circle then, as some Matrix infinity require to press circle to play PS1 or DVD movies.
Even though this chip has the automatic media detection feature, there will sometimes be a game or movie that will not boot under normal circumstances.
Try pressing circle when booting up and see if that works.
Kind of Hard to help you not knowing what chip you have.

those DVDs may not be from the same region as yours. you will need a modchip to play them.
