I'm a newbie. But with all the sites I've visited trying to learn how to use my DVD writer and $100 softwares, yes, plural, I have ascertained one thing. There is entirely too much c$%@ to going about making a DVD movie, from any source. There must be a 100 softwares all claiming to be "easy" as 1,2,3. Bull$%^#. If it was there would only be 3 worth buying, and they'd cost $499 or more. You pay $40.95 and you are the one getting ripped. Somebody needs to reel all this stuff in and produce a program to put all these minor players out of business. All these forums read like ancient DOS gurus explaining how to create the best autoexec file. Complicated ain't the word for it. I am not buying anything else for about 4 or 5 years to do with DVD. By then all these forums will have disappeared. Won't need them anymore.

I think what is in it"s Infancy is Poeple thinking that makeing a DVD from a Video File is a 1,2 or 3 Step Operation, Cuz it isn"t and Probably never will be..And Poeple do not want to take the Time to understand what they need to know to successfully put there Movie Files into a DVD Properly...And Poeple need to Know that you don"t have to spend a Bunch of Money on software to do this Because Most of the best software for Putting Video Files on to DVD
is freeware or can be found for free..The Biggest Factor for successfully Putting Movies on to DVD that Look good and work Properly isn"t the software you use But how much Knowlege you have about what you are doing....Cheers

Good! I'm sick of this new generation (for which i am a prt of) that thinks video copying and encoding is a simple point and click process.

It's like a smart man once told me, "Don't buy every software thinking you'll learn them all, buy one or two and truly learn those". This can be extended to cover anything. I learned CAD the same way. I dedicated myself by reading, taking classes on that particular software, and now nearly twenty year later, some people think I'm an "expert"??? I just know my software well. You learn what you want to learn, no matter how complicated.
Keep on truckin' guys.
