ok, until about an hour ago, I had no idea that you could get psp games from torrents and actually have them run on your psp. Anyway, I've done some researching and got most of my information from right here.

It seems that I need to do two things:

1. Dowgrade my PSP to v1.5 (currently 3.71)

-I'm having great difficulty doing this because it seems that I need at least a memory stick PRO duo (I just now realized that my 4GB memory stick is in fact a pro duo, so I trust I have plenty of memory), second battery and a second psp or a friend that/who already has custom homebrew or a v1.5 psp. I have neither of the last two.

2. Get custom homebrew

-This shouldn't be a problem as I've got a link to a good (I think it is) custom homebrew download already. The only thing is I literally have no idea what a homebrew even is, how I use it, what it does or why I need it.

Anyway, as you can see I am in fact totally new to all of this, but I'd like to learn as it seems I can enjoy all of the games I'd like to without pulling money out of my ass. Please excuse my lack of knowledge in the area and the terminology.

If anyone can give me a hand I'd greatly appreciate it. I have Windows Live Messenger and AIM if anyone would find it easier to walk me through the process on one of those instant messengers.

I already know how to use torrents and I already have a pretty reliable torrent site, so I don't need any help with that. So is anyone willing to help a noob in need?

You don't need a second battery one spare battery is enough, but yeas u need a second psp running firmware 1.5 or any CFW. ANd if thats not possible u can simply buy a pandora battery from ebay. They offer a battery that is converted into pandora's battery and a migic memory stick.
Homebrew is a term that refers to home-made programming and software. It allows emulators and other softwares to run in ur psp. ANd to rune homebrew u need 1.50 or CFW.

Elvis659 - Since you are just starting out I thought I could give you a push in the general direction. First, in order for anyone to help you out getting your PSP running custom firmware we need to know at least one more thing. Is your PSP Slim or Fat? If you have a slim PSP, you are going to need someone's PSP running custom firmware, or your going to have to drop some money and buy a pandora's battery. If you don't want to buy a "pandora's" battery, you can physically hack a sony battery, but I believe the risk of injury is too great in that case. So, for a PSP slim, buy a pandora's battery (or a datel tool battery, etc) and download TOTALNewbis easy installer. (google it) and using those tools you can install custom firmware. If you are running a fat psp you should have more options, and should seek more advice for your specific situation.

PSP Slim 3.60 + Hardmod Battery = 3.71 M33-2
