The Matrix will only work with v1 and early v1.1 XBox's that have the lpc holes filled with solder.
The Chameleon and solderless adapter will work with any version XBox up til v1.5 If you have a version 1.5 Xbox then you'd need to solder 2 wires from the motherboard to the LPC. 1 for Ground and 1 for 3.3volts.
I would also suggest buying the Programmer for either chip to reflash it. Unless your chip comes preflashed with an Evox or X2 bios, it'll make reflashing the Linux bios alot easier.

with the chameleon you need a solderless adapter to install it onto your xbox,is this also needed with the matrix? also, from your own xperience, which chip would you recommend as i have a v1.0 xbox?

Think you can escape me?Try it!

The Matrix chip has pogo pins already attached to the chip so you don't need any sort of an adapter.
Of the 2 I would recomend the Chameleon with adapter. Has a few more features and also has the ability to hold a bios larger than 256k, just in case in the future one is released.

I don't have the adapters for the Chameleon. All installs are I do are done with the Pin Header.

Rusty,

Can an XBOX be damaged (bios or otherwise) by simply attaching a modchip to it?

In other words, if I attach a modchip and remove it, will the XBOX work as it always did?

Thanks.
