Hello, is there a psp app out there that can play standard divx/xvid files on a psp without first re-encoding them to 480*272?

i think he wants to watch standard movies files from his memory stick.
psplayer mt does that, but it won't play anything larger than 480x272 i think.
i don't use it but that's what i heard

Yes, exist4u is correct.

Indeed, I have heard of PsplayerMT and it's screen resolution limitation, but an important looking person on TooSmartGuys.com claims to have a working alternative (a prx) and says he will upload it.

If I can solve this myself I will start a new topic on it, maybe it can be stickied.

oh cool.. if there is such a program, please reply to this thread too.. i will subscribe to this thread.

right now, i use pmp mod so i just encode all my videos to .pmp format (480x272 resolution 1023kb/s video, 160kb/s audio)... quality is great but it takes pretty long to encode, so if i don't have to encode, that would be great.

Yes, PMP is pretty awesome but I have grown weary of encoding after converting avi's to nearly 400 DVDs.

I'll let you know. (don't hold your breath though lol)

OK.

He checked his iso file and there was no AVI prx, our hopes are dashed.

But he did reveal something interesting; apparently the psp's camera's software disc (Chottoshot) enables the psp to create and view large size (up to 1280 x 960) mp4's and (possibly) view them at full 480 x 272. It can also convert them to avi (mjpeg I think), not sure if it can actually view the avi.

If only I had the skills and knowledge I would be working on a way to download/buy this combo for reverse engeneering. Or perhaps we could locate a programmer who would/could.

EDIT: Here is the discussion we had.
