So i ripped a tv series dvd each episode being an hour long it comes out to about 1.4gb and i see that other people are able to bring it down one episode down to about 342mb (Xvid) and i like the quality and everything so how is this done?

dvd to avi use gordianknot/autoGK and set file size

For episodic DVD's I use Dr.Divx 2.0 (free). After you ripped your DVD's to vob files, you will use Dr.Divx to open those files (highlight them all) and process them. Using the "home theatre" setting will get you a copy that is almost dvd quality. Even though Divx and Xvid are almost the same, Divx from my expierence has better color/quality especially at the smaller file sizes.
