RipIt4Me should be the last version, 1710. It can be downloaded from Softpedia.com. Supplying the log would help us with diagnosing RipIt4Me problems.

DVDFab HD Decrypter is a good replacement. It's free and still updated regularly by DVDIdle. As mentioned, get the latest version. http://www.dvdfab.com/free.htm

No problem, we were all new at one time or another. Hope that has you squared away. Read up on how the software works. That way when you run into a problem, you can ask more definite questions.

WinRAR or WinZip is what you need for opening all the zip and rar files you find at most download sites. I'm a fan of WinRar myself.

Fasfrank's site redirects to the link I gave for DVDFab. Also, I need to get with him on the RI4M download. The one from softpedia is the last version and the best.

I'm not saying it's not a good site to visit, just that the link for DVDFab was the same as given here, so redundant; and the software download was an older version. I agree, fasfrank has a nice site and some good guides, but it's not appropriate for every thread on AD. Some of the guides and how to are dated, so a newbie might have a bit of trouble telling what's currently relevant and what's not. Case in point, who needs a guide for using DVD Decrypter with Shrink or any other transcoder? DVD Decrypter by itself is obsolete. It had a run with RipIt4Me, but that ended when RI4M got shut down. The old method of building problem sector lists with DVDD is a bit complicated for novices and not worth the time as long as a free program like DVDFab HD Decrypter is available.

You're welcome. If we can be of further help, just ask. The DVD backup software makers and the movie studios are playing a cat and mouse game. The studios try to build the better trap for catching the software by creating new copy protections and the software makers evade the traps by updating and creating new software to bypass the copy protections. As long as you stay current and use the appropriate software, you'll be able to get your backups done. There's archives of software and methods that once worked but don't any longer are all over the place. Obsolete programs and guides are something of a mine field for beginners.

As to how we can sense a person is new at doing DVD backups or using a particular software... Those with experience usually ask specific questions where beginners usually present broader ones. As to logs, they're just a matter of the right program command or knowing where the program hides them.

I've tried to back up this movie with ripit4me and it works, however the resulting backup has portions in it that "replay" with different languages. It will play a scene with a sign in english, then replay the scene in 2 more languages. Is there a feature of ripit4me or dvd decrypter to choose only one language?

Thanks for any help

You can select your language choices in Shrink. Something went wrong if the backup is jumping from one language to another, unless they're doing it in the video itself. A good backup should play the same as the original.

I tried making a backup using CloneDVD and AnyDvd (both versions the most current) of Meet the Robinsons but the only way it plays is w/ the commentary on. While playing the backup with my DVD player, I've gone into features and physically turned the commentary off but that does not work. Is this a Disney thing as I haven't had this issue before? Is there a way to make a backup w/o the commentary? I've also unclicked all the extras to just copy the movie while using clone and that didn't help. I would appreciate help with these programs specifically. Thanks!

What compression reading is Shrink reading (on the title for complete video) when you go to click backup?

If the animated movie runs about 100 minutes and there's multiple angles, I was just wondering what you were getting for filesize and compression. What did you decrypt it with and did you check all the Quality Settngs? You can add those to the compression question.

The flaw probably isn't with the software. Other members have reported doing the releases successfully. That leaves a problem source or something is going wrong in the process on the particular system.

Weird issue i'm having with Meet The Robinsons is that DVDShrink doesn't get the navigation structure right. Under the "Full Movie" Folder it has about 57 minutes of previews and the movie itself is stuck under "unreferenced materials". Anyone know why it's doing this?

**edit** Used DVDFab to decode it, then shrinked with DVDShrink and didn't have that problem.

The Parental Control of my AV got turned on accidentally and I missed the last couple of posts, until now.

Glad to see your problems resolved. Decryption software has to be kept updated for newer protections being added by the studios. As you noticed, when using the latest version, there was no problem with the software. We just hadn't got to the point of asking which version you were using. My first post in this thread was to use the latest version of DVDFab HD Decrypter.

Glad you thought to do it on your own without my posting it a second time in the same thread.

Happy Burning.
