MS Office 2007 slow to open

I have this problem with Office 2002 and 2007 (not installed together, I have just upgraded). Any saved doc will open immediately from within its own programme but if I try to open a saved doc seperately it takes upwards of 30 seconds. My PC has 1G of memory and a 200G HD that has 95% free space. It is not fragmented and all other programmes run ok. I have installed all MS updates and tried closing my AV.

No new applications have been loaded and I have done a Spyware check.

I can't yet say for 2007 as it has only just been installed but 2002 was fine up to about 2 weeks ago. Could it be a particular Microsoft update and if so where would I start?
Any ideas?
