Versions are important when it comes to DVD Shrink and Nero. ZoSoIV makes a good point on trying another burner. That will help diagnose whether it's a burner issue or not. If it were me, I'd try transcoding the output to the hard drive. That tells you if there's an issue with Shrink without going to the burner, plus it takes the burner out of the picture. If that's successful, try burning with Nero manually. If that doesn't work, try ImgBurn. If you output to the hard drive with an ISO file, it makes burning with ImgBurn faster. ImgBurn will burn files, but it builds an ISO first and you have to know how to use the Build feature.

It might help if there's 2 optical drives. No one has mentioned how many drives this PC has. Device 0 is the first and Device 1 would be the second. If there's only one drive, then there wouldn't be a second drive to reset the DMA on.
I'll ask again, how many DVD drives are there on this PC?

Did you try the guide that ZoSoIV gave the link to? Just to make sure, are both drives IDE (flat cable) or do you have a SATA drive for one of them (small cable)? Just wondering why the second drive isn't showing up. Usually the primary IDE is for hard drives and the Secondary IDE is used for optical drives. As mentioned deleting the Secondary IDE usually causes the drives to come back with the right settings. The Plug and PLay feature of Windows reinstalls everything, so there's no fear of damaging anything when you do this.
