I got my ps2 about about 4 years ago, it is one of the fat ones. It worked fine until about 3 months ago. When i started it up it gave a wierd skiping noise and i got a disk read error. I thought the laser might be stuck on its track so i pulled it appart and pushed it to the one side. That seemed to do the trick at first but then it got worse and more frequent. Me and my brother gave up for a couple of months. Today i brought my ps2 to my brothers house and played it for the first time in about 2 months. now it will run games that have a clear bottom(not blue)
the games that do work when you play them you get a skiping noise every onceand a while.
any help is appreciated

There is a metal or plastic tab on the laser that "rides" the worm gear. It may need cleaning and lubricating, or it is worn.
First, try to clean and lube it. (a drop of 3 in 1 oil will work)
Then try to slightly bend it down, if these suggestions don't work, replace the tab.
