This is not intended to offend anyone. I just feel that too many people do not know these things, which I thought were either common sense, or something that needed to be known.
1. The Wii's sensor bar doesn't report ANYTHING to the Wii. All that cord is that you use to plug it in is a power cord. I found this out when I found out my wiimote was returning its position to my computer from where the sensor bar was (which was attached to the wii) on the tv. All the sensor bar is is a couple of IR lights. thats it. There are rumors that 2 candles can be used to replace it if they are spaced correctly.
Therefore, it is the WiiMote that reports where it is in relation to the "sensor bar" not the other way around.
2. no Wii game will respond exactly the way you move no matter how you move. Link will not punch if you throw your remote like you do in WiiSports boxing. He will not bowl with bombs.
3. As of the time of this posting, there is nothing that reports the position your feet are in, so jumping around the room isn't going to make mario do what you're trying to do.
4. You can store Miis into your Wii Remote (the official name for that by the way, WiiMote is solely the fans' word). Go into the Mii channel, push A when the hand is on the Wii Remote Icon, then hold Z +B on the Mii(s) and drag it into one of the circles.
5. Yes it is true that Japan altered the motherboard of some of the consoles so that it cannot be modchipped. I live in japan, and I own an unmodable Wii. According to a Japanese sales clerk (meaning UNOFFICIAL) they either plan to, or already have shipped a similar motherboard for use in the US/UK systems.
6. Yes there was an update to stop the GCN swap trick method from working. It added the digital clock to the main screen as well.
I'll post any more I remember/find out. And remember, I live in japan, I use a japanese Wii, so my information may be slightly or totally wrong for your region (Except the thing with the "sensor" bar, that is true for ALL Wii Consoles).
