Trying to burn a .hack GU vol 1 backup, but I just can't get it to run right. Memorex runs smoothly, but I really don't want to use them and kill my laser, it's years too old as it is. I've tried both Verbatim 8x and TY's(TY-G02) but both of them have the same problems of skipping and horrid loading times. I've had the same problems with Disgaea, as well.

I burn at 4x, so it might be a speed problem, but 4x is the lowest I've got. I'm burning with a Lite-On DVDRW SOHW-1633S, and despite the fact that it DOES support 2x burn speed(did it with the Memorex), and despite the fact that I know at least the TY's support speeds from 1x to 8x, it won't burn them OR the Verbatims at less than 4x.

...Halp?

Double Post, I know, but now I have a new problem.

I fixed the speed issue; just needed to use Omnipatcher on a firmware update. Problem is, it's apparently not the speed. Burning at 2x is, apparently, TOO slow and it won't load at all. All other burn speeds WORK, but only in the strictest sense of the term. The TY's load Mac Anu pretty fast, but I guess it loads them TOO fast. I'll walk out the main door and into town, only to find that nothing beyond the first bridge has loaded, leaving me with a whole bunch of water and NPC's plummeting to their doom.

After it DOES load, I'll often be forced to stop as I progress through the city and the screen darkens slightly, with the .hack GU emblem in the corner of the screen, something that has only happened to me while playing the retail, and removing the disc mid-game. It loads after a second or two, but when it happens every ten steps...

So, can someone help me with this? Is it the laser? The cog that moves it? Do I need to clean the lens? Do I need a whole new laser? Is it because both my Verbatim and TY's have a bluish tint to the bottom, and my ps2 has a hell of a time reading blue discs? Is there anyway I can fix this WITHOUT opening my ps2 and possibly breaking something? If I DO need to do one or all of the above, can anyone recommend a good place for me to get it done?

I'm not sure on the version, but it's a fat ps2, and I've had it for about 5 years, give or take a year or two.

Edit: Disregard this. Frustration at these discs not working had me posting this in the wrong section.
