Hey guys!

I haven't been in this area of the forums for a while, because I've had my PS2 modded and working fantastically for almost a year now.

My PS2 is a fat model PS2, v7 if I remember right, modded with the Myth Chip - they gave me a cheap knockoff, I know I know..

However! Yesterday, I went to go put in a game to play which I had been playing the day before, and here's where the problem started.

The PS2 flashed me a Myth Chip logo - which it had never done before.
It then was on a black screen.

From here, it went into the DVD player.

And it said, "Could not read DVD"

Upon some resetting and testing and such, I have found out the following facts.

-Original games tend to work
-DVD movies work
-Backup games are read as DVD movies (as evident by loading the game into the browser; it comes up as "DVD Movie" instead of "PS2 Game")

I thought it was perhaps something to do with the burn. However, I found out that all of my backups which I have enjoyed in the past year do not work - all of them are recognized as DVD movies, and then deliver the Disc Could Not Be Read error.

This is odd - I haven't gotten a single game to take me to the dreaded red cloudy "Please Insert Valid PS2 Disc" or anything of that sort.

Can anyone offer me some troubleshooting solutions?

Here are my ideas -

- Possible Modchip failure?
- Possible Laser failure?? (not likely, as it reads originals...)
- Needs lens cleaning?
- Electrical short?

Like I said, this is a sudden and unknown problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated! If you need more info, ask.

Maybe you should try upgrading to a newer chip, it sounds to me like you're mod chip is screwed up.

It would be best to contact a myth chip reseller & ask the question of them or in their local forum if they have one,to me it sounds like it has a fault tho kinda odd it reads other disks ok,even odder is my never been modded xbox 1 with a good condition halo2 game will try to read it as a movie...lol.. reboot usually fixes it
