I haven't been with the PSP scene alot lately and I know there have been many upgrades. I own a 4GB Sandisk memory stick Pro Duo I purchased straight from Best Buy. I used (and filled) this chip with Roms, Emulators, PSXPSP games, the whole shabang. This was only a few months ago. Then a month ago I pick it back up for about a week, everything is still in working order, loading roms and whatnot.
Now I've picked up my PSP to find it didn't turn on...??? So I plugged it in, and it's currently charging, thank god. I soon realize that no music, games, pictures, or movies are recognized from the Memstick. Odd, but I plug it into my computer to diagnosis the problem. My computer couldn't recognize it for some reason. So I whipped out my 7 in 1 memory card reader for Iomega. At first I thought I needed drivers to read the thing, but that didn't change the matter as it could still not be read.
What makes this all even funnier is that both my PC and PSP (when I try to reformat it) say that there's nothing there....???????????????????????????
The pins on the chip are all intact, there's no discoloration or change of size, I mean it's been sitting in my PSP. Is my memory stick dead due to some unfortunate power mishap? I mean, I saved a backup of my PSP data (thanks to my paranoia to stuff EXACTLY like this) but I REALLY don't want to come to the conclusion of buying another Memstick.
Edit: When I try to format it via Memory card reader it DOES give me a window with a suggested FAT file system and an "unknown capacity" with "unknown allocation size" then gives me the error "Windows was unable to format"
