hi all

jst wondering if anyone has heard the rumors about thew 360s (in 2008 i guess) coming with HD DVD etc all built in! that wld be damn cool!

Ya... read the rumors. That really is a tough call, though. There's alot of factors to consider.

- The format war (hd-dvd vs. blu ray) is far from over, so installing it in the 360 for movie purposes may not be sensible. Although they may be thinking along Sony's route... try pushing the 360 as a hi def movie player.

- BUT there's already HD DVD players available for under $200.

- Installing it for game purposes would make sence as developers are already having problems with space on regular dvd's.

- BUT that seems highly unlikely as there are too many consoles out now. Releasing games on hd-dvd will alienate the non hd-dvd owners. It would make more sence to just allow developers to make use of the 360's hard drive for extra game storage. Although this would alienate the Core/Arcade owners.


It is hard to say whay MS will do about this in the future. But it's needless to say that they must to SOMETHING.
