Mp3 audio is for Mpeg4 video. DVD Lab is strictly Mpeg2 video, audio AC3,LPCM or Mp2. Common is AC3.

I think Nero can do it, but if you want free go to DOOM9.org and download BeSweet and BeLight(GUI for BeSweet) in Downloads/Audio section, it will do.
DVD Lab has a converter also but I do not think if it will convert MP3.
It is an Icon above asset bin marked AC3
It will convert WAV file to AC3 for sure so you can try that too.
Also you can use WAV, but it has to be at 48kHz sampling, regular WAV is 44.1kHz.

This can happen during conversion.
In asset bin check if audio is the same length as video.
If the audio is 2 sec. off through all video, than it can be fixed in DVD Lab. There is a audio adjust button above asset bin (red and green bar icon) which will adjust audio delay plus or minus. The value you put in is in milliseconds.
If audio gets off gradually through video, than it is little more complex, because you have to adjust it in some audio editor, basically stretching the file.
