I have an european Wii-console chipped with wiikey and i have a problem with my copy of Zelda. It can read the disc at first and i see the Zelda "logo" in the main Wiimenu, but when i press play the screen just get black and nothing happens.

Anyone know what the problem could be? I have Used the Wiikey Setupdisc 1.2 and set to regiofree so i doubt its any regionproblem.

Best Regards

Although needing more information on the copy of Zelda that you have so I will assume that it is a backup and based on your information on region, I will also assume that it is not a PAL version.

Not all NTSC-U/C or NTSC-J region games will work on a modded PAL console. Some will not load at all, while some will "lock up on load" which is what you experienced.

Refer to the Wii Region Compatibility List for a rough idea of the different region games that will and won't work.

Also refer to the Wii Brick Prevention thread at the top of the forum to prevent your Wii from bricking when playing different region games.

The version of Zelda is: THE LEGEND OF ZELDA TWILIGHT PRINCESS WII PAL-PI

Thanks for the list, i will check there in the future.

Strange that the version you obtained is labelled PAL. It may have been incorrectly labelled or a bad burn. What DVD media are you using for backups?

In the Wii Brick Prevention thread, you can find an application called WiiBrickBlocker which will help you remove updates from any Wii ISO but also tells you the game region before you burn.
