Do backups load a little slower?

Hi guys, I recently made a backup of my skate. game and I've noticed that it takes a few extra seconds to get into the actual game (roaming around and stuff).

I was wondering is this normal for back ups or could it be my firmware?

I use TDK dvd+r dl and burn at 2.4x using ImgBurn and I used scthrom to read my game with a kreon drive.

Im not really fussed that it takes a few extra seconds to load, what Im concerned about is would this cause more damage on my console?

should work the same as your original. Could be the TDK discs or if you use 6X or 8X max speed DVD's you may want to try burning them at 4X speed instead.
