On my D-80 It has a setting for macro but I need a macro lenz to get macro, why have the setting?

you would have to read the manual as to why it's there and what it does! good reading....... maybe you'll learn something more about your camera! but you know what.... I don't read the manuals either! LOL I do hands on learning and look what I learned to do:
