Other than a scanner, is there something out there I could use to make photo album photos, digital? My experience with scanners have been a slow and tiresome process. If a scanner is the only way, is there an easy to use one, that won't sacrifice to much of the quality?
if you have a card reader then you can transfer your photo files right from the card to the computer just like moving or copying files in windows explorer. you can use programs like VSO ImageResizer to copy or move your images from the card to a folder at any image size you want! you can buy a usb card reader at any super store online or at CircuitCity, CompUSA, BuyRite, Best Buy, Radio Shack, etc. but if you have photos or negatives you can take them to Eccard drug store, Wallgreens, CVS and they will transfer your film, photos, negatives to CDs in JPG format or what ever format you want. You can go to Fed EX Kinkos and they can do the job for you!
I have a card reader built right into my Dell 24" Ultimate wide screen monitor and it takes 6 different card formats so all I do is transfer my pictures that way! If your camera is equipped with a USB hook up and came with it's own CD to install the driver then you can hook up your camera to the computer and upload your pictures directly...... mine came with both...... so it's easier for me to just take the card out and pop it into the computer and just transfer my pictures that way!
I also have an HP Scanjet 4850 that's really good so I can scan anything I want into the computer! A must have.
I'm not exactly sure how this card reader would accomplish what I need? Is there a certain kind of card reader? From what I understood, it works like a scanner?
ohhhhhh I just re read your problem...... you photos in a photo album..... and you want to put them in the computer ... make them digital. well....... you'll need a scanner. sorry....... I thought you had a camera and wanted to put your photos into the computer. When you said photo album photos I thought it was different..... sorry for misunderstanding you. You can bring your photos to Kinkos and they will put them on disk for you in jpg format.... or what other format you might want. It would cost you..... but you can buy a good scanner for like $50.00 or so and I'm sure Kinkos would charge you more than that. It's not that bad to scan your photos and adjust color, focus, contrast and such with a paint program or a photo editing program. I don't know of any other way to take printed photos and make them digitized!
As far as using a scanner and then using photo shop to touch it up. I'm assuming you mean I can stick more than 1 picture (assuming its a flatbed) to be scanned at once and then separating with photo shop? I looked at some scanners, flatbed was all I can find. Are there small style scanners? Are there feed scanners, like a printer type thing that would be more space saving or compact?
I have a flat bed scanner...... I'm sure there are other types. I seen a hand scanner where it's a bar type and you pass it over what you want to scan. I seen others that you actually feed sheets of what you want scanned into a ringer type thing. So you'll have to look around to see what's out there and what's good for you.
