Hi!

Here's the thing. I have a 77004 (v15?) slim ps2 and I use SwapMagic 3.8 Coder to run my ps2 backups. When I want to watch a movie, I start SM 3.8 Coder and my 16Mb USB Flash drive to start SMS Media Player.

I am thinking on buying an external HDD to watch my movies. What more do I need? Will SMS recognize the HDD? Do I need USBextreme, USBAdvance, HDLoader, or what do I need?

Bottom line is I only want to watch DIVx from my HDD using SMS Media Player. Any help here?

Thanks!

Yeah it will. I've got the same set up pretty much. I use the coder and my flash drives. I don't normally use my external hard drive to play movies but I do for games.

To use the external hard drive, you can either do what you do know and just select external hard drive, as it says online on it's specifications that it can, OR, just use the hard drive. That's what I do. I've got a few elfs on the hard drive, and just select which one I want on SwapMagic. I like it because I can easily boot games, and from experience I know that on my slimline, the hard drive let's games run smoother, and most even faster.

USBAdvance is what I use for games, and other things like Action Replay Max (yeah, you can boot it) and I use USBExtreme to program games onto the hard drive. I would recommend getting a hard drive and an enclosure, because it's pretty long waiting for games to load onto the hard drive. You can get movies games ect, and place the hard drive in your PC, put em on and play them.

But yes, it should definetly work.

hi, i have a slim line ps2, and i read that the memory exploit does not work? is this true? ive burnt several discs thinkin my exploit disc is wrong b4 i read that. and i have now used a different program called ps2 exloit utility to burn an exploit cd.

now my question is, i used swap magic 3.8 to boot the cd and it works this time, an i have several choices i can choose. i basically want to use sms. now seeing as its a "live" disc, how do i watch .avi files off another cd? cos when the exploit boots off the exploit cd an i press the button for sms, and that boots up, the disc spins an reads wots im that disc (the exploit disc). how and when do i change disc to the one with the .avi files?

or can u only watch .avi files off a hhd? also can u stream movies off the pc onto the ps2 using the networkcables?

I dunno if you have Swap Magic or not, but here is what I do...

What you need to do it:

- Swap Magic DVD / CD
- USB Flash pen
- SMS Media Player ELF file.

What to do:

1. Copy the SMS Media Player .ELF file to the Flash drive and put it in a Folder called SWAPMAGIC

2. Connect Pen drive to USB Port

3. Put Swap Magic DVD/CD on and turn on playstation.

4. Swap Magic will start and look for any USB devices which might have a SWAPMAGIC folder and run any ELF files that are there. Since you DO have an ELF file there (SMS Media Player), the PS2 will run the program. Here's a twist, though:

a) If you have the movie on a CD, you have to use SwapMagic CD and not DVD. In case you want subtitles, be careful since SwapMagic CD is only 100% compatible with 650Mb CDs. This means that if you put on a 700Mb CD there and want to use a subtitle file with the movie, there will be problems visualizing them. At least I never managed to see subtitles with 700Mb CDs

b) If you have the movie on a DVD, use the DVD version of SwapMagic and not the CD. Be aware that DVD-9 (AKA Double layered DVDs) won't work that well.

5. Once you have SMS Media player running, replace the SwapMagic disc with the Movie CD/DVD. Press X and then (Triangle), which will make the system to refresh the file list. Now just select the movie you want to see and press X!

Hope this helped.

As for streaming a movie through your Network, I believe it is possible with RADHOSTCLIENT. I'm not sure how this works or if you can use it without a HDD connected to the PS2. that would be nice to know, though!

Did you get it to work eduardoh? I'm interested in watching Divx movies on my PS2 Slim using USB HD too, I don't think the PS2 Slim could use HDD. But I don't know if it will load slow since PS2 only have USB 1.0

This is what I'm thinking:

1. Use Launchelf and put SMS .ELF in the USB HD or HDD to launch it

2. Use the SMS Media Player to search for the Divx movies and play

But I don't know if that even work >.<

OH YEAH!
