ok, theres a part of the game where you have to collect shells swimming. the problem is there is nothing in the water that even resembles a shell. does anyone know what to do?

I never collected any shells besides the gold one. I dropped in the water and I saw a school of fish swimming right past me with the gold shell in front of them so I just grabbed it up and ran back to the penguin. Fastest star that I earned in the game
