Will making a pandora battery ruin the battery?

I have a fat PSP and a coworker wants me to put the custom firmware on her PSP-2001 SLim. I see that I have to make a Pandora Battery out of mine but I can't seem to find out if my battery will work anymore.

Will my battery still work for my own PSP or am I sacrificing my battery to install custom firmware to my friend's PSP?

Your battery can always be chanmged back into a normal one or you can use the multi ipl with the universal unbricker so that it can turn on into the XMb or the pandora options but this will disable sleep mode

There was a patch to make sleep mode work again, though i'm not sure with which multi-loader it was with...
