Burning Engine Failed??

I just upgraded to Windows Vista Ultimate last week, and tried to backup a DVD for the first time with Vista. When I open DVDFab Platinum 3.0.8.6 I get a message that says It cannot "initialize the burning engine". I have tried reinstalling DVDFab, but cannot fix this. Thank you for your help!

Does DVDFab Platinum still rip the dvd to the HDD, but just won't burn? What burning software did you use?

It does rip the DVD to my HD. Then I go from my HD to my DVD burner also using DVDFab... any suggestions? Thanks!

Can you suggest one? Maybe a free one? Why do I have do use a different app? I had never had a problem burning them when using XP...

Update DVDFab - the latest is 3.2.1.0.

For the ones on your hard drive try using ImgBurn - a good free burner.
Use the build mode to add the video_ts to burn.

Normally DVDFab Platinum does a good job burning for itself. As binkie pointed out, the version you're using is dated. If I were you, I'd update the program before writing it off. Why are you saving the output to the HD and then reusing DVDFab to burn? How does the program work when you have it set to burn output with the burner?
