222 is the average realy. if its set to default it should change to the games speed. say gta would run hight than a smaller game like lumiuns. the reason you can change it on cfw is that some games are compressed which slows the game down by putting it up to 333 it can increase the speed of the game

Not the actual speed, just the frame rate, it removes slowdown, the default speed varies; it used to be 222MHz for most games, but this was changed to 266MHz for more demanding ones and is considered "Default" now. Sometimes clock speed is higher than that, but unlikely.

On official firmware, the clock speed would not be set 300MHz or above as games don't require it. However, as Dr1ver said, on custom firmware, some games in CSO form require clock speeds this high to run the game properly, even in demanding ISOs a clock speed of 300MHz is suggested. 333MHz would probably never be needed, it's just a waste of the battery.

Because awesome games like God of War need hardcore mHz to pump out its graphics at a halfway decent framerate.

Yea, it does, the faster the clock speed, the quicker it drains your battery.

Well, on XMB you only ever need 222MHz, with games, 300MHz is usually all you need.

It's not that much, only like 20 minutes different from 266 mhz and 333 mhz, nothing worth dealing with a laggar over.

I'm saying it's a good idea to have the XMB set at 222mhz, as you do not ever need more, but keeping at 333mhz is not a big deal, only 20 minutes more, give or take.

XMB can be at 222 mhz with VERY minimal lagging if you have a bunch of homebrew in the memory stick, and if that's going to be a problem then 266 mhz for the XMB is the way to go. For UMD/ISO, go with 333 mhz.

so does this mean that the default value changes according to the situation or is always stuck at 222

"Default" basically means that it's the normal software defined speed, some software changes the speed automatically, so therefore it's dynamic.
