Possible cheap dance pads?

Cheap PS2 Dance pad $10 + Gamecube extention cable $3 + little wire splicing = cheap dance pads ($13)?

I want the dance pads and I want four of them! BUT..$25 a pop is well..is a bit pricy since you will only play it with a couple games. That and it fun to hack thing to make them cheaper.

Questions:
Is this possible? I know there are converters but they are about $10 and that not saving me anything, plus it built for the controllers with the rumble pac.
Can you buy just the gamecube male ports cheaper somewhere?

Or If anyone has a idea how to get 4 dance pads for about $50 I would like to hear it. Maybe usb keyboard broken down with a hack (I have seen homemade DDR pads)? or maybe from some other pad besides playstation?
