Shrink is an old program and has not been updated in years, new protection has come out and Shrink just cannot do it. Get yourself the free DVDFab Decrypter and use that on newer movies, then process as usual with Shrink.
Arniebear is right on as usual, and may I add that you should look into using FixVTS instructions if looking at that website. When I used to use shrink, there were movie flies that wouldn't open right. Bad structure, so FixVTS and my preference
vobblanker you can find a guide here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/334154
There is a totally free version that is updated frequently.
There is a platinum paid version, but you dont need it. you can still do things the way you are used to, but only with an extra step.
I'll not go into detail, I just think DVD43 stinks. It messed up my PC.
As for DVD Shrink, arnie bear mentioned the weak decryption software. That's always been an issue. However, it is a good transcoder and does minor editing. Most of the new transcoders have no decryption software. So, I don't see Shrink not decrypting everything a major flaw. That's where the free DVDFab HD Decrypter comes in handy. DVDIdle has DVDFab Platinum which is retail, but the HD Decrypter is free. http://www.dvdfab.com/free.htm With DVDFab HD Decrypter and/or AnyDVD (retail) Shrink can transcode almost every DVD on the market. AnyDVD is an on the fly decrypter like DVD43, only much better and gets constant updates to handle the newer copy protections. AnyDVD also has an optional ripper. For ripping though, I prefer DVDFab HD Decrypter.
Shrink is not a burner and doesn't contain burner software. Supported burners are the Nero burning rom (not Nero 8), DVD Decrypter, and CopyToDVD. With a modified exe ImgBurn can be used instead of DVD Decrypter. Shrink can call up these burner programs to burn automatically, making it appear Shrink can burn. But it has to have the extra software mentioned to get the job done.
