I was just talking to my friend about my Wii (D2A with Wiikey) and the choices I have made doing the mod. Thinking about his situation (non-modified Wii most likely with D2C), I advised him not to mod his system.

I was able to get the Wiikey installed at my place of work. I cam in an hour early and spent that hour opening the Wii console (got the wrong screw driver) and then had a pro soldering tech. solder the chip to the drive.

If he were to have to install a D2Ckey, I don't think that they would be so apt to help with the 31 wire install.

Looking back, I don't think I would do the install if it required the D2C. Anyone else feel the same or is it worth the work?

supposedly there is another method on the horizon. but until it's readily available, i doubt i would dare mess with even some of the cut-leg D2B versions.

I wouldn't do it theres way to much room for error in the process, I would assume the console dead unless you had the right equipment usually costing upwards of 2 grand (nice soldering equip) But what puzzles me is with as many pins they have to cover why didnt they make it where you could just fit it on top of the chip? it looks like it could be done with the current design oh well lets hope soon there will be a better way
