OK. So i thought that i would buy a PS3 and i would get everything i need to play the best games in Hi-Def quality. I think was wrong.

I was checking out the PS3 site, and first off i was looking at the 40GB model and i saw that is says this:

--------
** Video output in HD requires cables and an HD-compatible display, both sold separately. Copy-protected Blu-ray video discs can only output at 1080p using an HDMI cable connected to a device that is compatible with the HDCP standard. HDMI cable not included. Additional equipment may be required to use the HDMI connector.
--------

But then i looked at the 80GB model an it says the same thing.

You mean to tell me that i will not be able to play games in high def with out buying a HDMI cable.(Another $60)

Dose that seem Odd to anyone else, your just me. Maybe im just mistaken Im pretty sure i am, because this doesn't seem reasonable.

Any help...

sounds normal to me. you always have to spend the money to get the maximum quality.

before you get hdmi, check if your tv can support it.

ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 6.60 PRO B10
wii (powered by bootmii/priiloader): 4.1u - d2x v10beta53-alt (base 56) - configurable usb loader v70r51/devolution r188 - wd scorpio black 7200rpm 320gig w/ ams venus ds2 enclosure

got a whole lot more to list . . .

Normal? I thought i was already paying for the Next Gen Hi-Def console system.

But reading further i have a feeling there talking about 1080p.

Is this true, or will I need to but the cable to play games in 720p also?

If you want a High Definition video. You will need a High Definition cable and High Definition TV. Simple as that. Standard analog cables can only output a resolution of 480i.

But yes the ones you see that cost $60 are a total ripoff. It is just marketers taking advantage of people who dont know about HD yet. You can get a perfectly good HDMI cable for around $15-$20 that will output a resolution "nearly" identical to the "top brand" cables. I got mine from Newegg.com for $20 with a $10 mail in rebate and the picture is great.

Just make sure your TV is capable of outputting an HD signal. Should say in your manual what resolutions it supports. 720p, 1080i, 1080p, etc. And go here if you wanna read more.
