Nero Exp5.5 wants CD-RW, rejects DVD-RW

I bought a Pioneer DVR-A106U, accompanied by a CD labelled "Ulead Nero" which installed Nero

Express (has Nero 5 Burning ROM) and Ulead software on my win2000. I can burn my video

clips onto DVD-RW disc. Then I FULL erased the disc, tried to use it as data DVD for *.txt, *.html and other non-video files. Nero shows err msg:

"Your compilation cannot be written on this kind of disc.... Medium required for this comilation:

CD-R/RW"

Nero recognizes the DVD burner as"PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-106D (CD-R/RW)", and shows scale length of a 4.xG disc. Why it can not burn DVD-RW?
I then tried disabling the Nero config of "check disc format before burning", but uesless.

Can anyone shed some light on it? Thanks
