Nikon D40 vs Canon XTI Rebel

I need to buy a new digital camera for work, I have come to a decision of the Nikon d40 or the Canon XTI Rebel. I need to be very accurate with color so which would be the better camera?

I'm biased toward Canon.... my brother loves Nikon... yet he's had trouble with his and I never had trouble with any of my Canon cameras (AE-1, EOS REBEL, EOS 10D, E0S 30D). While my brother can't even figure out how to use his camera I have taken beautiful pictures with mine:
