I have mkv/x264 files I want to convert to play in my HDD media player as it does not support x264.
I understand there will be some loss re encoding the video, but I want to get as little loss as possible.
So, for example, for a file such as this> 3-pass x264/mkv, ~1775kbps, 592x432 2:19m 1.76GB.
My player plays- AVI, MPEG 1/2/4, DAT, MPG, ASP, ASF,DVD VOB, DivX 2-6*, XviD Video Files
I don't mind the file size being larger, eg, 4GB say.
What codec should I re encode the video to to achieve this?
What software would be best for quality, and or, ease of use?
Any help or opinion would be appreciated.
Free or purchased software is not a problem.
Thanks for reading.
