Hi, try the burn at 4x, and no faster than 50% of speed rating of disc. Also use MIJ Taiyo Yudens or MIJ Verbatim discs instead of the MCC discs.

jlin23 hi :)
a few suggestions
Quote: Recorder: <SONY DVD RW DRU-800A> Version: KY04
firmware out of date newest is KY06 get it here
http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?category=4&manufactor=30
Quote: Nero API version: 7.5.7.0
Using interface version: 6.3.1.4
it looks as if you have installed version 7 over 6
save your serial number uninstall nero with nero's clean tool. then reinstall which ever version you prefer
Quote: CdRomPeripheral : DB5012L JHI240U 1.0 aq6fl88a Port 4 ID 0 DMA: Off
needs to be on
Quote: Physical memory : 1022MB (1047488kB)
Free physical memory: 143MB (147012kB)
close more applications to free up more memory, you're in virtual memory territory
which means your hard disc will be 'swapping', therefore interfering with the burn.
you really need at least 256Mb of free memory. stop multi tasking whilst burning
(out of curiousity. how much free space do you have on your HDD)
Quote: Burn process started at 16x (22,160 KB/s)
most media max speed rateing is for the the tranfer of data. for the transfer of video it is reccommended to burn at half this speed
4x data= 2x video
8x data= 4x video
16x data= 8x video
so 8x would be better
Quote: Disc Manufacturer ID: MCC, Media Type ID: 004
nothing wrong with these..they are Verbatim (mitsibushi chemical corporation)

uninstalled/reinstalled nero, updated firmware, and still no luck.
i am thinking perhaps there is a problem with how dvdshrink is ripping the data? or maybe the problem is confined to the specific dvd i am trying to copy...
ill try some other stuff and let you guys know how things are progressing

hi all,
I upgraded firmware to KY06 and now I get this error:
"Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with digital copy protection between your DVD drive, decoder, and video card. Try installing an updated driver for your video card."
I also downloaded this LtnRPC utility that is supposed to make my drive region-free, but it hasn't helped the problem
Hope everyone had a happy thanksgiving
