Cheating on Firmware Modded PSP

I am considering getting a PSP for Christmas, which I will upgrade to the custom firmware. However, I like to use cheats such as the one's on the Action Replay Max when I am unable to complete a game properly.

My question is, can I use cheats on a PSP with the custom firmware, i.e. from a game loaded off the memory card. If so, how do I do it. Do I just have to use the Action Replax Max as normal, or do I have to do something completely different.

When you get to custom firmware you download and install CWCheat or another cheating device. Then you use codes to install the cheats for your game.
