ps2 v4 eject reset cable board connection

Hi guys,

my first post; I'm trying to fix a family members ps2; the original fault was a disc read error - it wouldn't play ps2 games. The model is scph-30003 v4; so far i have followed some basic tips, laser lens cleaning, etc and have fitted a new laser arm. In the process of switching on the power to tryout the new laser arm I somehow detached the eject/reset cable from the mainboard. The problem I have now is trying to connect the cable into the board's socket, it doesn't want to stay attached.

I have been told elsewhere there should be a brown plastic spring that opens 90 degrees to the board. I cannot seem locate the brown spring(does it attach to socket or cable?) plus there is very minor chipping ot the left side of the white board socket but could possibly get around that with a bit of luck.

Any advice on reconnecting the cable would be very much apppreciated?
