Hi Everyone,
I've ripped both movies into an ISO image file successfully using DVDFab HD Decrypter or combination of AnyDVD and Shrink, however when I try to copy the movies onto a blank DVD +R (Memorex brand, by writing the ISO image by IMGBURN I always get this message:
I/O Error
De: [1:0:0] Matshita DVD-RAM UJ-831S 1.01 (D:) (ATA)
ScsiStatus 0 X 02
Interpretation: Check Condition
CDB: 2A 00 00 00 03 00 00 00 20 00
Interpretation: Write (10)-Sectors: 768-799
the message then says:
ImgBurn
Close Track Failed!
Reason: Power Calibration Area Error
it then says:
Finalize Disc Failed
Reason: Power Calibration Area Error

Hi, But I backed up both of the movies with ripit4me and then used vob blanker to delete the usual nonsense and all non viewable files. then I use dvd shrink to compress(transcode) and output the file as an iso. Burn with imgburn. No probs

I nailed both of them down with DVDFab HD Decrypter, DVD Shrink, then ran through IMGBurn. No problems.
@cibcblows might want to upgrade your blank media. For quality, player recognition, and longevity stick with made in Japan Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden.
But usually a "power calibration error" has something to do with the burner itself.

To 7thsinger:
When I rip it with DVDFab HD Decrypter I save it under the fulldisc file on my harddrive...however when I use shrink to compress it, the message says:
DVDSrink encountered an error & cannot continue.
Failed to read file "C:\DVDs Ripped\Full Disc\DiscA\VIDEO_TS\VTS_02_0.VOB"
Invalid access to memory location.
Am I doing it incorrectly?

sounds like maybe the burner is going out and the data is not transferring properly. with the power cal error.
what version of dvd fab are you at? latest beta is 4.0.0.0 i think
are you using shrink like the pic?
is the blue spot where you are ticking?
shrink might be unable to open file if corrupt.

There's a new stable version of DVDFab available. Those who haven't updated should. It's been updated to better process a bunch of the newer structural copy protections.
I did Mr Brooks a week or so ago and it wasn't a problem.
@iluvendo
If you're using RipIt4Me version 1.7.1.0, which you should be, it has FixVTS incorporated for processing the files. There's little or no need to use VobBlanker with it.
@cibcblows
Poor media or drive problems can cause the calibration error. The easiest thing to do is try some good media. Most stores carry Sony or Verbatim. I prefer the Sony +R. Memorex is usually made by CMC and isn't usually considered good media. Check the firmware version to see if it's up to date. If neither of those seem to be the problem, check or have your drive checked. Matshita is known for problematic drives.

Both these movies have threads here already, however as this looks like a burn problem i'll leave it open for now..

your burner is your cd/dvd drive. not part of dvdfab at all.
dvdfab uses drive to rip dvd to your folder.
if your drive/burner has power cal errors. you can try new media (dvd) as pacmann stated or swap in a new drive.
i just did 28 weeks last night as i was posting with dvdfab
do you know how to check firmware?
i dont know of any test you can do to verify its a failing drive.
maybe someone else does

The burner is your DVD drive that does the recording. I said first try some new media, then check the firmware. Firmware is programming for the DVD drive. It should be available from the manufacturer's website support. If nothing else works, have a professional check the drive.
