Apple iPhone firmware broken almost immediately

article published on 12 November, 2007

It's the concept. If you tell a kid they can't do something, what's the first thing they are doing when you turn around? Then again, the massive price tag on the only thing you can do probably helps give motivation for the hacks...

it's the 10 year contract that at&t paid for to keep them locked to their company only. Apple will not unlock them.

I wonder if this is ever going to become a reality? Worms have once again chomped another bandaid fix by the rotten Apple.

I somehow have a feeling that all this hacking is somehow coming from someone within Apple itself.

Frankly if Apple was really serious about it they could very well have opted for the CDMA version which would have simply made the phone unusable after any kind of hacking.

If the phone were subsidized, I would buy one in a heartbeat. But since it is not, I cannot justify paying $500+ for a phone that is locked into one carrier. That is completely nuts.
