First off, thank you to Fatboy who put me on the track to burning my first DVD. One problem tho...I've got no audio. Not exactly sure why. I placed the DVD into my player and cranked it up...picture was ok, not great, but only intermitent audio if any. Here's the funny part...if I speed up the play speed of the DVD, I start to hear audio...mostly background music and sometimes the occassional voice. I authored the DVD by running the mpeg through TMPGEnc, then taking the resulting files and running them through InfoEdit to get all that VOB stuff. I was then able to burn the DVD through Nero. The only thing I can think of is that I've got some settings wrong in TMPGEnc. Can anybody point a dummy in the right direction? I'm running low on blanks!

Regards,
Riz

try using DVD Shrink! Its easier than what you are trying now and it's free. Follow the guide
http://www.chrismccann.co.uk/dvd_shrink.htm
and then use Nero to burn your disc.
let us know how things turn out :-D

I agree with above, it sounds like you are doing it long way/old way of doing it half VCD method/dvd authoring (unless converting a divx file), use shrink or dvdone.

decrypt using smartripper/dvd-crypter
run through shrink (freeware)/dvdone(purchase)
burn using recordnow/nero

there are many guides on this forum and others i.e. dvdrhelp.com though if you want to carry on doing the above way use tmcs authoring program you can trial for 30 days and is very easy to use and you can add basic menus and works well with their encoding software you are using.

If you are converting DivX/XviD to DVD then your method is part correct but it all went wrong for you in IFO Edit. This program is not the best to use for making DVD files.

To get the best and correct results, you should follow this proceedure:

1. TMPGEnc
2. TMPGEnc DVD Author
3. Burn Using TMPGEnc DVD Author or other(Eg, Nero)

I f you are trying to backup a DVD, you can use either DVD Shrinkm(Free) or CloneDVD and AnyDVD.
There are many guides for DVD / DivX etc to DVD on my site. (Link below)

Good Luck mate :D
