hi i just recently brought a swap magic 3.8 coder from model gadget for about £17.08 including postage and pakaging.
my promblem is i can't get my usb mp3 player two work
i followed the insturctions i.e. make SWAPMAGIC FOLDER and in it RENAME YOUR FILE TO SWAPMAGIC.ELF
can any one tell me whats happening?
is it that it dont accept mp3 players?

im know booting apps from a usb can be done with swap magic 3.6 but im not sure about 3.8, but it probably does anyways. the reason its not working with ur mp3 player is that swap magic isnt compatible with that type, i have 2 usb cards but only 1 of them works with swap magic

Ok all i did was...
1.) On the root of the usb i put a folder called SWAPMAGIC (all caps, no spaces) and I download the application UlaunchELF v4.12 (its the 3rd from the top) from this site:

2.) Unzip the file called BOOT.ELF and rename it to SWAPMAGIC.ELF
3.) Put SWAPMAGIC.ELF in the SWAPMAGIC folder on the usb
4.) In the SWAPMAGIC folder, put other apps you want to launch (these can be named whatever you want)
5.) Put the usb in the top slot of the ps2 and turn on the ps2 and put in my swap magic 3.6 dvd (my cd version is fked up so idk if that works)
6.) Let swap magic run like normal, it will get to the load screen and when its done loading it will boot the Ulaucher (the 1 you renamed to SWAPMAGIC.ELF) and through this I booted SMS media player (got mp3s on the usb to work fine but for some reason it says all my cds are "illegal" no matter what i do)
7.) It's eaiser to boot Ulauncher and the apps from a memory card so just cut and paste your SWAPMAGIC folder into the memory card. i believe its called m0: or something like that, i cant check right now. but with that on your memory card, when you use swap magic it will ALWAYS boot Ulauncher but if you dont want to boot Ulauncher then you just simply take out your memory card before you start swap magic.
yea this is kinda long but I wanted to make sure i got EVERYTHING in. if it doesnt work, even after doing everything i said, then your mp3 player isnt compatible and youll have to get another usb storage device.

which files shall i put in my folder?

all u need is boot.elf, remeber to change it to SWAPMAGIC.ELF

can we follow the same procedure, to play ps2 backup games from usbkey?

well as of now the only way of playing ps2 games is with a modchip, swapmagic, ps1 and mem card exploit and a hard drive.
