I have read Hd advance, hard to find a good place to buy it.

Read swap magic, but this is not what i'm looking for.

Then theres the action replay method , but this is little complicated where i have to use slide tool and stuff.

Which way is the easiest to record games to hdd and play it from there?

Also, if any of my interpretations is wrong, please explain.

first, what ps2 do you have. original fat with network adapter or slim ps2?

if you have the fat ps2, then you can use the memory card exploit with a ps1 game. you can get a hdloader elf and save it to the memory card. once the exploit is transferred to the memory card, and you boot with the ps1 game and memory card, it will load to hdloader instead of the game.

do i need the action replay disc?

if dont, all i need is

ps1 game disc, memory card, hdloader on mc
is that all?

The easiest way without having to swap anything is to get a copy of AR Max with usb support. If a friend has it just borrow their copy you only need it once. Or heck go buy it (make sure it has the usb key in it) use it then return it.

get the independence exploit installer and ps2 save game builder. It literally takes 3 minutes to set it all up and get the exploit running. I had a bunch of problems and I think it is because i had read entirely too many threads and was trying to put everything together.

ok now I'm not going to make you try and find out the codes of your games by sticking them in your cd rom and waiting. grab a pen and some paper and sit down in front of your ps1 game collection. now open the case underneath the ESRB rating are some letters and numbers for example my copy of Parappa the rapper says SCUS-94183 the title would be SCUS_941.83 just chance the dash to an underscore and add a period before the last 2 numbers.

Now open up your independence exploit. click on title db start adding your titles and clicking add. when you are all finished export your list into the same folder as your independence exploit. Next move to the next tab loader leave this setup as it is. click on the files tab. Browse for file look for the HDLFPP.elf then click add. skip to extras where the X is click the drop down and click on HDLPFF.elf now go to create exploit tick the memory card format (xps) then the blue create exploit. when it is finished your .xps file will be located in c:/IsCentral. Next open up ps2 save builder open the iscentral.xps file then click the save button and save as .max.

Insert your Action Replay Max cd into the ps2 and let it load, then click on the 2 memory cards. click on the memory card check your system configuration then delete. press triangle to go back. Now click on the little USB drive wait for the file to load. click the file to the left and then uncrush to memory card. when it is finished restart with your ps1 disk the screen will turn white and a screen will come up. click circle on the 0 (file explorer) then click circle on mc0: and circle again on the HDLFPP.elf now enjoy all you need now is that ps1 disk to run games off your hard drive.
