I find that DVD Decrypter provides better results than Nero, google it!

@Wayne89
You need to remove the link from your sig advertising free PS3's ASAP.

@al37188
A few suggestions:
Update the firmware on the drive - latest is BYX5

Update Nero to the latest version of 6 - package 1 6.6.1.15 - link

Physical memory : 254MB
Free physical memory: 70MB
Memory in use : 72 %

512 mb would be better - add more ram if you can. In the mean time keep us much free as possible - no multi tasking and close any unneeded programs when burning.

Disc Manufacturer: PRINCO
Not the best here and may be the biggest cause of your failure. Switch the media to Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim or made in Japan Sony, Fuji or Maxell.

Give that a go and let us know.

I would say you need at least double this Free.

System: Microsoft Windows Xp Pro 2002 SP3 / Windows XP Pro X64 Edition. Computer: AMD Athlon(tm) 64x2 Dual Core Processor 4800+ 2.51 GHz. 4.00 GB of RAM.

I'm with binkie. Did the problems start with the new batch of princo discs?

Insert empty disc to write to.
(Medium in drive: unknown. Medium required by compilation: DVD+R/RW, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R9 Double Layer.)

Your drive doesn't recognize the media (crap)! Get some Verbatims, TY or MIJ Sonys like binkie said. The firmware might help the princos but you can do a lot better with new media.

Just wanted to thank for the advice.
I am updating tonight as we speak...then, trying to find out how much trouble it is adding memory to a laptop....looking at Dell's website.
Princo...I know, that most people say that they are coasters, but, I have had 99.5% good burns now for about 3 years or more with the Any DVD, shrink and Nero....until about a couple weeks ago...and I was in a middle of a spindle, when the problems started and I also changed to a new lot, thinking that was the problem. Funny thing is, my drive ...( I have 2 different computers) but this one, the problem child, will not reconize sony's....hard to believe, or Fujifilms...I burn -r's.....as you can tell, I don't know a lot. But want to thank everyone for the advice, and will update..so, others newbies like me can read and learn. I did burn the movie that I was having trouble with by using DVD Decrypter. But now I'm going back and updating my drive and Nero, and try same movie, same princo....but the Burn was good with DVD Decrypter with Princo.
Thanks.

Not a problem al37188
I used Princo 'back in the day' and they could be hit or miss for me.
With the firmware update you might want to give those Sony and Fuji a go again. The update should hopefully take care of the recognition problem.
