The last several movies I have tried to burn have failed outright or wont play. I can rip the files and save them to my hard drive (where I can play them on the computer w/out issue) but when I use Shrink or the Imgtool to burn it errors, saying: "Could not perform end of Disc-at-once". I updated the imgtool (to v1.2 I think) but to no avail. Once shrink saves the movie to my hard drive I have tried using dvdclone to write the files to disc. It will complete the process, not stating any errors, but then the discs wont play. Is there a software problem somewhere that could be to blame or is it more likely my burner?
To note: I use an hp pavilion laptop running xp sp2 with a TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-L532M dvdr drive.
Any help or ideas are appreciated.
Here is the logfile for the last unsucessful burn:

are you using shrink to rip files? if so shrink alone can not handle some movies.. use need to use dvdfab.

http://www.dvdfab.com/free.htm
you also have to stop multitasking 75% is high

Do you get the same problem when using the Nero burning rom without ImgTool?

I believe my shrink is set up to use nero as the burning rom. When I rip and burn usually I will select my dvd burner as the target, so then shrink will rip the files to the hard drive and then I think it uses nero to burn (is this correct or am I just ignorant about it?). The other way I might burn a disk is to right click on the video_ts file saved on the hard drive and select "burn with Imgtool". I have never, to my knowledge, installed a full version of nero. I was using the version 6 demo and I just installed version 8 demo, hoping it will fix the issue. As to multitasking, I usually let the computer sit alone in the corner while burning disks. So the 75% usage is more than likely die to my quickly aging specs. I have uninstalled the disc drive and allowed xp to find it and re-install. I checked the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers and it is set to DMA. Any ideas on what to do next?

You must have clicked ImgTool as that's what's in the log. It works in unison with Nero. Nero 8 is a bad idea, it no longer works with Shrink when you select the burn with Nero option. You would have created another problem using Nero 8. Your terminology is a bit off. Nowadays most people use DVDFab HD Decrypter to rip (clean and copy to HD) and open those files in DVD Shrink or use AnyDVD on the fly with Shrink. (Rip sometimes only means copy to the HD. Depends on context.) Whichever method is used, the files are opened in Shrink and Shrink transcodes (shrinks the files). Ripping and transcoding both get files to the HD, but it's a different process. When burning auto with Nero the output files go to a Temp folder on the HD and burned from there.

I'd advise removing all the recording software you're using and reinstall. With Nero use the appropriate Cleaner tools, from Nero support. Then install the version of Nero you intend to keep. Nero 8 as I said doesn't burn auto with Shrink. I'd suggest ripping with DVDFab HD Decrypter, transcode with Shrink, and let Nero auto burn. Leave ImgTool out of the loop and see how that works. Don't install InCD when installing Nero.

pacman777,
thanks for the info. I uninstalled nero 8 and am downloading nero 7. I also uninstalled the imgtool burn and I already had DVDfab, have just never used it. I will try using your suggested configuration and hope that it doesn't end up being a problem with my hardware or system. Quick question, I used to use the imgtool to easily burn a movie that had already been saved to my hard drive (I would be able to right click on the video_ts file and select "burn with imgtool"). What would be the easiest way to do that now w/out the imgtool? Thanks for all your help.

I would suggest Imgburn for burning my files and images to DVD, small footprint and easy to use. If you need any guides let me know they are easy to acquire.

I agree with LOCOENG on the ImgBurn. Binkie7 or someone can point you to the file to modify Shrink to support ImgBurn for auto burning, if you want it.

With the Nero, if you haven't done the installation or are encountering any problems, you may want to go to Nero support and get the cleaner tool. Removing and installing Nero can sometimes leave remnants that cause problems with the new installation.

STARTING TO GET VERY FRUSTRATED!!!!
Thanks for all the help and advice, guys. I am now running imgburn with shrink and nero 7 but am still having problems. My main objective now is to get the movies I have accumulated on my HD to disk. When I used imgburn to write an iso image it was unable to finalize the disk (see log below). I then tried nero express to burn the video_ts file and it stated that it was completed w/out error (log below) but I get an error when trying to play the disk on a computer: "windows cannot read from this disk. The disk might be corrupted, or it could be using a format that is not compatible w/windows." However, I decided to double check and tried the disks in a regular dvd player and they played, but they would stop and/or pause a few times before playing the movie. And since I frequently watch dvds on the road w/my laptop I would really like to figure out what the problem is. I installed shrink and imgburn on my wife's computer and have successfully burned 2 movies from their original discs, but that wont help me w/the movies I have on my HD. What can I do now?
