Would it be possible to buy one that goes in the pci slot and also would flashing be possible with usb to sata connection?

USB to SATA will NOT work! You can get a card the goes in the PCI slot though! You can use this Card:

In the reviews for it, people have flashed the Firmware on their 360's with it!

well then your SOL!!! you need a PC to flash the dvdrom, IE PCI SATA card....good luck.

Any of the following Samsung dvd-rom drives will read games as long as it is flashed with the Kreon firmware: SH-D163A, SH-D163B,SH-D162C and SH-D162D

You can use almost any standard dvd burner to burn the game to dvd+r dl, although most people on here seem to like the Pioneer 111d/112d. I have an older NEC, and has always worked for me.
