hi, sorry but i have scoured the replies and
read all the info i can lay my hands on about my problem but no luck.
I have tried to copy dvd movies as follows.
shrink with DDVD Shink 1.03 then used Clone
DVD 1.3 to encode and burn ifo's bups vobs
etc..Burns away happily on my pioneer AO5
looks fine when playing, gets about 3/4 of the way through the movie then starts to breakup, sound turns on and off and picture jerks all over the place.finally stopping..
my system is as follows
xp os
512meg ram ddr
Pioneer dvr-ao5
Clone dvd
DVD Shrink
etc etc..
the only thing i can think it woill be is my
dvd media some generic type from computer market red coloured label, 4x speed..
what am i doing wrong if anything.. does everything need to be turned off in the background and can a dvd be tested to see if
it will record properly..

thanks for your time and any help offered

You should try to update ur firmware. It could be that cheap media.

Try some ritek media...It's doesn't cost that much.

media, definitely media.

always the same problems--funny playback/burning/whatever at 80-90% of the disc. poor quality control results in slight warps/wobbles in the outer edges where it is most noticeable (which is where the end of the burn is) which gives an error.

I have to agree with yuedana, it is the Media you are using. To solve the problem, compress the DVD down to about 4.3GB and you will have no problems burning on cheap media.
If you want to max out the DVD with you data, then you need to buy better quality media like Ritek G03 or G04.

Good Luck :D
