Doe's anyone have one of these models and if so is there a default setting for the cog's position. I screwed up big time not marking there original position.Now its been 4 days and im still at it trying to get those dam things right.Dam the two cog machine's it just a pain in the ass trying to figure this out.

Put them both at the lowest level and change them one at a time until the PS2 reads the disc. They should both be at the same level. The default is usually the middle.

Thank's core2kid for the response but i think i may already have killed my ps2. Got fustrated trying to get it to work and i just went mad turning and srewing on everything.The pot's and the screw on the laser head. But i think may laser might have gone up why i was getting nowhere.I mean i can see it still spin's and with certian dvd's i can see the laser red light move across the disc.Then i read about playing bad media can burn the laser coil's and make's it hard for the ps2 laser to focus on groove's on the disc.Yeah so i was thinking maaybe thats what happen bad meadia burned my laser coils and no matter what the ps2 cant focus on disc anymore.So i think ill alway's get a reading disc message or a dre.

No problem about spelling. And are you saying that you were adjusting the voltage of the PS2 laser? if not then in most cases, 99% of the time the DRE is fixable. Does the PS2 read any type of disc as of now. It would help if you could upload a picture of the PS2 and what you were adjusting.

Nah it wont read any type of disc. Just constant spinning or sometime i get the dre.Depending on which position the cog's are in but i wonder have my laser coil's went up.Last thing i remember was trying to use cogswap and got one backup too load.But the rest woundnt so i just said ill just play the one on hdloader.But it just keep going to the browser screen over and over.Then i heard playing bad media can damage ur laser.So im thinking maybe that's it but as far as i can see the laser still looks fine. But it wont read any disc any type so i went trying to fix it myself but probaly just made thing worst.What i wanted to know is how can you tell if your close to fixing a dre? should the disc spin a certain way like the speed should it be soomth and constant? And if yes what do work on next the angle or the up and down cog?

If you don't hear the laser click, then you are close to fixing it. I always start with trying to get it to work with an original bought music CD or PS1 game, these are usually the easiest to read for a PS2. About the cog positions, I posted somewhere else that you can set cog 1 at the lowest and then try all positions on cog 2 and repeat until it reads the disc. It will take long but its usually a guaranteed fix. About using bad media can spoil the laser, yes it can. More with burned media than scratched media. The laser has to increase voltage to read burned media which can cause it to die. If you want, you can buy a used PS2 from Gamestop for about $70. You can also try a new laser but that won't work if you don't have the default cog positions.
